For years Illinois legislatures have spent money beyond our means without thinking about setting aside a rainy day fund for rough economic times. Raising taxes for a short term fix is inappropriate. Illinois needs to live within its revenue even in tough times.

1. This means reducing the size of government and instituting pay cuts to government officials.
• Legislatures make $57,000 a year (Both representatives and Senators)
• Lt. Governor makes $120,000 a year
• Secretary of State makes $120,000 a year
• Attorney General makes $120,000 a year
Cut salaries 10%
2. Reduce the general assembly by half.
• House of Representatives from 118 to 59. (Saves $3,363,000)
• Senate from 59 to 40. (With 59 Seats = 336,000, With 40 Seats = 228,00)
• General Assembly Reduction savings does not include insurance reduction or pension reduction.
3. Lease State Owned Land and Buildings to Utility Companies for solar and wind turbine energy.
4. Create a State law authorizing all farmers to lease their land to utility companies for solar & windmill energy.
5. Repeal Fireworks Ban for adults
• Keep the sales tax in our state
• Stiff fines and suspensions for adults who give fireworks to children and for retailers who sell to underage clients.
6. Allow service members to drink alcohol
• They will not jeopardize their career and benefits for prison.
7. Modify all state vehicles to run off natural gas and buy American hybrids
8. Increase power plant production. ie. Nuclear, Clean Coal, Natural Gas.)
9. Sell the Thompson Correctional Center
10. Fund more drug treatment programs for incarcerated inmates to relive prison crowding.
11. Add six new Casinos in Strategic locations to boost revenue.
• 2 in Chicago land
• 1 in Rockford
• 1 in East St. Louis
• 1 near Memphis, TN
• 1 in Springfield
12. Borrow any remaining amount through long term bonds
13. Reduce corporate income tax form 4.8% to 4%
14. Reduce property tax a flat $200
15. Tax the service occupation at the sales tax rate with sunset clause of 2 years.
