1. Currently every year 65 scholarships are awarded to well deserving DCFS students at $100,00 each.
• Reduce these individuals scholarships to $50,000. Students can supplement this scholarship with grants/loans and include the tuition for service programs.
2. Cancel payments to families who adopt DCFS children. Currently they receive their monthly $475 payments until the children reach 18 or 21 in school. If you adopt a child he or she is your and off DCFS payroll.
3. Redirect this extra money for more social workers and case workers.
4. Consolidate education courses from 9 weeks 3 hours per night 2 nights a week to 6 weeks, 2 hours per night 2 nights a week.
5. Parents must meet 50% of goals in first 90 days to keep legal rights to children. If not, state will fast track legal termination of parental rights. Parental rights will be terminated within 60 days.
• To many people are willing to adopt children to let children linger in DCFS custody who cannot afford private adoptions.
